How E-Stand Can Help Writers
E-Stand
is a relatively new service. I'm
still working toward the first 100 sites. But
I do expect it to grow. Once it
does hit that 100 site mark, I will promote it with more seriousness than I have
so far.
The
same way it helps readers: By pointing the writer to sites with the type of
material they're writing. Estand will not publish guidelines, however.
I think it is very important for a writer to look over an ezine or
e-publisher's site before they submit. Just knowing what a site lists does not
tell you how well they handle it.

Publishers of shorter fiction seem to be settling into the expected niches -- Fantasy, Horror, SF, and Speculative Fiction. I was especially pleased to see the number of ezines looking for poetry since there had been discussions elsewhere on how the genre is as good as dead.
But
plainly it is the expected genres that are doing well in this world that most of
us would have considered SF 15 years ago.
I will update those lists for the next issue. It should be interesting to see how things change!
In the meantime, go out and study your markets. Read what's there, look over their guidelines, to see if you even want to submit material. And good luck!
