SPACE: Above and Beyond
	We thought we were alone. We believed the universe was ours. Until one night in 2063, on an Earth Colony 16 Light Years away... they struck. And now, we're at war. My name is Lt. Colonel T.C. McQueen, an InVitro, a race of artifically gestated humans. I command a Marine Corps Squadron, the 58th. They call us "The Wild Cards". We fight when called, in space, on land, and at sea. To lose this war means more than defeat. To surrender is to never go home. All of us must rise to the call... Above and Beyond.

Space: Above and Beyond is one of my all time favorite series, but it fell victim to studio politics and was cancelled after only one season despite a concentrated letter writing campaign by outraged fans. Now it has been picked up by the Sci Fi Channel who will begin showing reruns of the first season in January 1998. Additionally, there are rumors that a television movie is in the works. I hope this is so, Producers and Writers Glen Morgan and James Wong and their Hard Eight Productions certainly turned out a series they can be proud of. Their stories were well though out, and exhibited the same undercurrents and threads that had made The X-Files such a tremendous hit. Their characters were wonderful and really made you care for them, especially a certain silver haired fox of a Lt. Colonel named Tyrus Cassius McQueen, the quintessential honorable warrior. Not surprisingly, he is my favorite character to write about. His mysterious background lends itself perfectly to speculation.

If you did not catch this wonderful series the first time around, I urge you to tune in to the SciFi Channel this January and visit with McQueen's Marines aboard the USSCV Saratoga. Before reading the stories, you might want to check out a little background if you are not familiar with the characters and their situation. Given McQueen's mysterious background, a logical topic of discussion is always his first experiences with things we take for granted. "The Jericho Chronicles" is planned as a collection of short stories designed to explore those 'firsts'.
