For Tim Landis, life had always been fairly predictable. The child of a single parent family, he and his mother often just barely scraped by. Secondhand clothing and a shy nature left him a loner at school, and a target for the class bully. He found his escape from all this in the stories he wrote, but he was sensible enough not to really believe in ghosts, or magic, or anything like that.
But when a strange girl accosts him near the local cemetary with a cryptic warning, Tim finds his world falling apart around him. He discovers that the people around him aren't all what they seem, and that he has the gift for magic. A gift which he's been kept ignorant of, because he's destined for a different purpose.
For there's a book of unimaginable power. A book where every page is the distilled soul of a mage-gifted child, collected over the centuries. A book, nearly complete, and lacking only one thing. The final page... a boy named Tim Landis.
Ex Libris is a shared world, created by my friend Fey Boss and myself. The stories of Ex Libris are all darker-toned 'modern fantasy,' aimed at a young adult -- early teens and later -- age group.
We alternate writing the books, and each write the books from a different viewpoint character. Alex writes the stories told from Tim Landis' viewpoint, and Fey writes those told from Flora's. Right now, the first book -- The Last Page -- is completed but being polished, and the second book -- Ghost Writer -- is outlined.
The Ex Libris stories are collaborative works, co-authored with Fey Boss.
