My truck has hit the 60K mile mark and thus is ready for a tune-up/timing belt change. And since it's tough to find a reliable and honest mechanic I decided to drive to Slidell to spend my weekend with my parents and use the mechanic that they've used for the past decade or so. I've been fairly productive today so far. I went to the travel agent to exchange my tickets, since the itinerary has changed about a zillion times due to the damn airlines switching their flights around. (One drawback of buying tickets early.) I went to both used bookstores in town and bought yet another copy of Dreamsnake by Vonda McIntyre, since I keep loaning my copies of that one out (even though I swear that I will cease doing so.) I went to the bank and finished up the paperwork for my loan to pay for this summer's antics. (Money goooood.) And then I returned to my parent's house, pinned my hair up, and kick-boarded up and down the pool for about 45 minutes. The water was perfect. * * * * * Thank the powers that be for laptops. It's so much easier doing this sort of thing with my own computer. My mother gets this pained look on her face whenever I tell her that I want to download some software onto her machine. "You have twice the computer I do," she reminds me. "How much of my hard drive are you taking up, and will I be able to use it?" Sure, Mom. You need a telnet application on your machine. You need an FTP app on your machine. (Yeah, right.) Yes, I know... she reads this, so I doubt I'll ever be able to download anything new onto her machine. * * * * * I've barely finished eating dinner and my dad asks me, "Have you made a journal entry yet today?" I'm standing right there in front of him. He could ask me what's going on in my life... Hell, he knows what I've done today. But Nooooooooo... he wants to read it. * * * * * I'm gonna catch hell today...LOL |
