Happy Birthday, Mom!

(Okay, so it was actually on the 19th, but I was too wiped out to post yesterday. Sorry!)

Had a story bounced from Amazing this weekend, with the editor apologizing for taking so long. At least I know now that I haven't completely dropped off the face of the publishing world. I'm sure the rest of the rejections will start rolling in now.

I took my dad out shooting today as a Father's day thingummy. The range was crowded though, to my surprise, almost uncomfortably so. I had kinda been hoping that all the dads would be occupied doing family-type Father's day stuff, but apparantly they were a number of dads who got the Father's day present of "Go do what you want to do, Dad!" There was one guy shooting next to us who must have received a box of some really nice ammo, because he shot merrily for about twenty minutes, then packed his stuff up and said, "Well, I've shot my Father's day present. Time to go."

But even with it being crowded we were still able to do a fair amount of shooting. The gun shop had been out of regular silhouette targets when I went in on Saturday, so I just used some targets that I'd run off on the computer. (I refuse to pay money for regular circle-type targets. I only pay for the silhouettes because I can't do them on my computer.) I think we went through about 200 rounds of ammo, and considering that my dad hasn't been shooting in about 40 years, he did pretty damn well. He was hitting the target with pretty much all of his shots at seven yards.

After we got back we grabbed Mom and went to lunch, then I returned home and took Zeus for a walk. He'd been pretty unhappy with me since I had come home from work, then turned around and left again. So, had to appease the doggie some.

But I did try hard to get to bed somewhat early-ish. I've been so damn tired lately. I was considering going running when I got off of work tomorrow morning, but one of my calves is kinda achy in a twingy kindof way (nice specific description, eh?) and the rest of my legs still hurt from the weight workout I did the oher day, so I may just blow running off and take a nap instead. It's my weekend. I'm allowed. I'll try and hit the gym in the afternoon to make up for it.
