This is a good "hard SF" story firmly in the Analog tradition. Sanorfila is an adventure tour guide for excursions across the surface of Venus. She leads small packs of thrillseekers on a short trek across the extremely hostile terrain to earn her keep.
Of course, something goes wrong on one of these trips, and we see how she and her partner Gorf, a gene-modified human, handle the situation as well as the nervous tourists. While not profound, there was enough characterization to keep my interest, and the nuts and bolts of the story also worked for me. A good read.
