NEWSFLASH!

Good news! The new Summer 2001 "World Beat" issue of On-Spec is out with my story "Swans" as the lead story in the lineup! The issue includes work by by Elizabeth Westbrook, David J. Schwartz, Lena De Tar, Jarrett Keene, Catherine MacLeod, Douglas Smith, Allan Weiss, Matthew Johnson, E.L. Chen, and Gary Archambault, and looks to be a wonderful international mix of speculative fiction.

WOOHOOO!!! :-) I am so psyched and I can't wait to get my copy!!!!

And the cover by James Beveridge is absolutely beautiful, and just perfect for the theme, I think. It is an image of the Green Man of the Jungle who looks like a blending of a wood dryad and an African tribesman and he is holding the World in his lap like a drum. Great symbolism!

On-Spec is a very classy Canadian literary publication, and I am very proud to be a part of it. I urge everyone to subscribe.

NEWSFLASH!

Hey, just when you thought the NAW has settled down, we caught ourselves another one! A huge warm slobberin' welcome goes out to Greg van Eekhout, the latest new member of the Not-A-Webring Gang! Check out his hilarious journal. And I warn you, do not drink hot liquids while you do it, because you will be snarfing them all over yourself. This guy is funny! :-)

Oh, and a round of congratulations goes out to Al Sirois who got to re-discover creativity and art in a really new way so that I am all jealous and want to get back to painting too, to Paula E. Fleming who sold a story to Alternate Realities, to Samantha Ling who pulled an allnighter to write the best Clarion story ever at the last minute, and to Tim Pratt who had one helluva Good Day. :-)

I tell yah, the NAW Rules. :-)

And to commemorate it, here are some more NAWticisms. :-)

Oh, and whatever you do, please don't walk barefoot in the dark -- look what happened to Dawn Pasley!
