NEWSFLASH!
First, please vote in this poll below, since I am considering an experiment in e-publishing, and I need your input:
Welcome back to Douglas Shumaker's journal! I've been remiss in letting folks know, but Douglas is back and he is better than ever! Check it out!
Also, take a peek at Lisa Silverthorne's great new journal look, and a web domain all of her own! :-)
Huge congratulations to Melisa Michaels whose wonderful story "Painted Houses" from THE AGE OF REASON, made the SFWA Preliminary Nebula Ballot! I love this story, and I am totally psyched!
Meanwhile, the Compass Rose Marathon continues....
By the way, do you folks know about PayPal? It's a fantastic way to make safe electronic money transactions -- get paid and pay other people securely through the web.
Go and sign up now by clicking on the banner below, and not only do you get a good deal in the longterm, and 5 bucks for free, but I get 5 bucks too! C'mon, do it -- you know you will eventually (since this is becoming such a universally convenient internet method), so why not just get it over with and do it now? *grin*

Congrats to Diana on her story "Extant" from TAOR also getting an Honorable Mention from Gardner! Woohoo! :-)

NEWSFLASH!
Two sets of good writing news:
My story "Rossia Moya" has been given an Honorable Mention by Gardner Dozois in this year's anthology YEAR'S BEST SCIENCE FICTION, Volume Seventeen. How did I find out? Well, Timons Esaias was sweet enough to post a congratulations message in my newsgroup, and of course I immediately rushed to all the local bookstores to look for a copy. However, a copy was not to be found, neither at Borders, nor Barnes & Noble, nor Bookstar -- at least not yet. But then I found out that the whole YEAR'S BEST volume in its entirety has been made available on Bookface.com. Yes, you can go there and read it for FREE! :-)
Which brings me to the second bit of good news:
My previously unpublished humorous SF novelette "Aliens In Wonderland" is now available for your reading pleasure up on Bookface.com!
And... in its first week, the story made the Top 10 List of popular SF titles in the Science Fiction Section! I am so psyched! It is now at number seven! :-) And, this is the first time I've trusted an electronic venue provider to handle an original story of mine (as opposed to a reprint).
The story is about -- of all things -- the automobile industry, sexy classic cars, and automotive Alien encounters.... To say anything else would be to give it away. :-) Please go read my story! For every read, I get royalties, and you get to have a good laugh! :-)

NEWSFLASH!
Today, music stuff. :-)
My brand new Celtic song "A Bonnie Witch Named Gwen" is now up on the
MP3.com Homepage.
This is the first song of mine that has no sound distortion at all (yes, I finally figured out how to avoid it). Check it out and let me know how you like it (or hate it *grin*).
Also, I now list the Top 5 Music Charts worldwide, for various categories on my Music page. Ever wonder what is the most popular music around the world, right this very instant? The charts will give you a good indication. Since they are constantly updated and live, you might bookmark them for future reference or curiosity.

NEWSFLASH!
Welcome back to Tippi N. Blevins' online journal! It's about time, babe! :-)
I am still a bit reeling after the Nebula Preliminary Ballot news, but not unlike Tippi, I am extremely busy with a number of writing projects on my plate.
Will probably let you know soon, but for now, there's just not enough time in the day!

NEWSFLASH!
Later today...
Well, Criminy Crickets and Crappety Craps! :-) I am kinda speechless....
Well, OK, I am not, I am in fact wheezing!
I just found out in an e-mail from Mike Resnick, that my story "Rossia Moya" from the second SFF Net Anthology THE AGE OF REASON, just made the 2000 Preliminary Nebula Ballot! Bwana's recommendation has just put my story over the top!
WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
*and there was much dancing and screaming over the land!*
Earlier today...
Happy Independence Day, 4th of July Holiday
to those who are in the USA! To the rest of the world, happy Tuesday! *grin*
Congratulations to John Savage on his first hardback book publication -- even though it's non-fiction, it's still one helluva qool thing! :-) John also gets a NAWticism....
In the writing news, I got a second bounce from Black Gate Magazine.
